The Child Jesus by Florence Mary Fitch. (New York, NY: Lothrop, Lee and Shepard Company, Inc., 1955) Dr. Fitch (1875-1951), No. 7544, was the only child of Rev. Franklin Solomon Fitch, No. 4897, who had obtained his Doctor of Divinity degree from Oberlin College, Ohio. She graduated from the same college in 1897, and then received a master's degree from the University of Munich and a doctorate from the University of Berlin.
From 1904 to 1940, a career spanning 36 years, Florence was Dean of Women and Professor of Biblical Literature at Oberlin. The college archives hold a seven-foot collection of her papers. After retirement, Florence wrote nine children's books on world religions. Among her best known was One God: The Ways We Worship Him. This author's copy is from the 29th printing in January 1973.
